  一、会议简介

  国际中国语言学学会年会是一个具有世界性影响的国际学术会议,在过去二十多年的时间里,已先后在亚洲、欧洲、澳洲、北美等多个地区举办年会,吸引了众多对汉语语言学及中国境内语言有研究兴趣的学者和学生参加。2018年第26届年会将在美国威斯康星大学(威大)麦迪逊分校举行,这是威大第二次为学会举办年会(第一次是1995年的第4届年会),威大同行很高兴23年之后再次获得机会。

  中国语言与文化国际研讨会由韩国首尔汉阳大学发起,亚太地区十几所大学共同组织(包括亚利桑那州立大学、北京师范大学、华东师范大学、汉阳大学、湖南大学、印第安那大学、南开大学、四川师范大学、澳门大学、威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校、厦门大学等),每年在亚太地区轮流举行,旨在提倡中国语言与文学的地域和文化因素研究,加强相关领域专家的国际学术交流。2018年的第20届研讨会移至北美威斯康星大学,跟国际中国语言学学会第26届年会合办,但递交论文时请在邮件标题处注明“ABSTRACT-ICCLC20”。

  二、论文征集具体说明

  国际中国语言学学会第26届年会(IACL-26)暨第20届中国语言与文化国际研讨会(ICCLC-20)将于2018年5月4日- 6日在美国威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校召开,现向学界公开征集会议论文,所交论文可以涉及汉语及中国境内各种语言任何方面的研究。普通论文每篇发言时间25分钟(20分钟报告,5分钟讨论)。每个参会者最多可提交一篇独立署名论文以及一篇与他人合作的论文。

  摘要提交重要信息

  1.摘要篇幅(包括例句和参考文献)限一页,普通信纸尺寸(letter size),四周边距1 英寸(one inch)。

  2.摘要可以用英语或汉语撰写;

  英文摘要使用标准新罗马12号字体(Times New Roman);

  中文摘要使用小四号宋体。

  3.摘要以两种版本同时提交,一份PDF版本,另一份DOC版本;

  4.摘要匿名提交,但递交时在电子邮件中留下联系方式及所有相关信息。

  1.摘要以电子邮件方式提交,电邮地址:IACL-26@letsci.wisc.edu

  2.邮件标题处注明“ABSTRACT-IACL26”或“ABSTRACT- ICCLC20”,并在电子邮件中提供:摘要作者的姓名、职称、所属单位、论文题目、所属研究领域(诸如句法学、音系学、汉语历史音韵学、汉藏比较语言学等)、电邮地址等。

  3.用以下方式命名您的文件(即文件档名):

  独立署名论文摘要:姓_名.pdf;

  合撰论文摘要:姓_名_co.pdf(仅列出第一作者);

  例:胡建华的独立署名论文摘要命名为hu_jianhua.pdf;与他人合撰的论文为hu_jianhua_co.pdf。

  摘要提交截止期与录用通知

  截止日期:2018年1月10日

  论文接受与否的结果公布日期:2018年2月26日

  注意:非会员必须在论文摘要录用通知发出后一个月内(即2018年3月26日前)加入国际中国语言学学会,否则在此合办之会上宣读论文的资格将被取消。

  三、论文征集 (包含YSA奖、MJH奖、IRA奖)具体说明

  青年学者奖(YSA)

  “青年学者奖(YSA)”是IACL学会为奖掖青年学者而设置的一项创新性奖项,本届年会将循例举办论文比赛。

  经IACL评审委员会匿名评审初选入围者(最多5位,一般2-4位),可获得不超过500美元的旅途补助,并受邀参加当年会议宣读论文,按固定程序参加决赛。若经过评审委员审议,无符合条件的论文,是届年会则没有受邀入选者。

  YSA决赛获胜者荣誉证书将在年会晚宴上颁发。

  申请资格

  1.参赛者在决赛时不超过35周岁、且职称在副教授/高级讲师以下(不包括副教授/高级讲师)。

  2.曾在IACL往届年会上获得过此奖项者不得参加本次比赛。

  3.应为IACL会员。尚未成为IACL会员者应在收到入选通知书后一个月内加入学会,否则将取消参赛资格。

  论文要求

  1.提交论文的全文长度不得超过 letter size 纸25页。

  2.论文必须原创,独立完成且未曾公开发表。曾经入围IACL往届年会论文决赛、但未获奖者,若符合上述申请资格第一项条件,仍可参加本次比赛,但不得提交与往届参赛论文相同的论文。

  3.提交材料:(1)论文摘要;(2)论文全文。寄至:<IACL-26@letsci.wisc.edu>。

  4.邮件标题处注明YSA,并在邮件中提供:论文题目、所属研究领域(诸如句法学、音系学、汉语历史音韵学、汉藏比较语言学等)、作者姓名、职称(并注明2018年5月4日时的年龄)、所属单位、 电子邮件地址等。

  桥本万太郎汉语历史音韵学奖(MJH)

  该奖项年度奖金为500美元,由余霭芹教授捐赠,为纪念杰出语言学家和汉学家桥本万太郎教授所设,藉以鼓励年轻学者献身于汉语历史音韵学研究。

  该奖评选与“青年学者奖”隶属同一程序,所有参赛“青年学者奖”的论文中,凡属于汉语历史音韵学研究领域的,则自动参加MJH奖的评选。

  论文要求

  于邮件标题处注明“YSA/MJH”,其他一切要求均与上面公布的YSA相同。请特别注意, MJH 奖只颁发给“青年学者奖”获得者,而其论文主题则必须跟汉语历史音韵学有关。

  跨学科研究奖(IRA)

  奖项年度奖金为500美元,为表彰谢信一教授对本学会所做出的卓越贡献而设立,藉以鼓励年轻学者投身于跨学科的中国语言学研究。

  该奖评选与“青年学者奖”隶属同一程序,所有参赛“青年学者奖”的论文中,凡属于跨学科中国语言学研究领域的,则自动参加IRA奖的评选。

  论文要求

  于邮件标题处注明“YSA/IRA”,其他一切要求均与上面公布的YSA相同。请特别注意,IRA奖只颁发给“青年学者奖”获得者,而其论文主题则必须跟跨学科领域的研究有关。所谓跨学科研究,可以是接口研究(如语音-句法接口、句法语义接口、形态句法接口等),也可以是语言学跟其他学科相结合的研究(如文学、社会学、人类学、心理学、计算机科学等)。

  Conference Description

  About IACL

  The annual meeting of the International Association of Chinese Linguistics (IACL) is an international conference, which has been held at various prestigious institutions of Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America over the past 20 plus years. It has become a major conference for scholars and students around the world working on various aspects of Chinese linguistics and related studies. Its 2018 annual conference (IACL-26) will be held at University of Wisconsin-Madison which will be its host for the 2nd time (UW-Madison was the host for IACL-4 in 1995). After 23 years, UW-Madison is happy to have this opportunity to host the annual conference for IACL again.

  About ICCLC

  The International Conference on Chinese Language and Culture (ICCLC) is an international meeting, which was initiated by Hanyang University (Seoul, South Korea) and co-organized by more than ten universities in the Asia-Pacific region (including Arizona State University, Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, Hanyang University, Hunan University, Indiana University-Bloomington, Nankai University, Sichuan Normal University, University of Macau, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Xiamen University, etc.). The ICCLC aims to promote the study of Chinese language and culture, and strengthen academic communication among scholars in the fields. ICCLC-20 will he held concurrently with IACL-26 at University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2018. For the paper submitted to ICCLC-20, please title the subject of the e-mail with “ABSTRACT-ICCLC20”.

  Call for papers

  IACL-26 and ICCLC-20 will be jointly held on May 4-6, 2018 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA. Abstracts are invited for presentations on any aspect of research on any variety of the Chinese language and linguistics, as well as other languages of China. Each talk will be 20 minutes, followed by a 5-minute discussion. Submissions are limited to one individual and one joint abstract per author.

  Abstract Submission Description

  1.Abstract length is limited to one page (with 1-inch margins), including examples and (selected) references.

  2.Abstracts can be written in English or Chinese:

  For English: Please use Times New Roman font, size 12

  For Chinese: Please use Song font (宋体), size small 4

  3.Abstracts should be submitted in two versions, i.e. one in the form of a PDF and the other in the form of a DOC.

  4.Abstracts should be anonymous, but please make sure to include your contact information in your email upon submission.

  Submission Guidelines

  ·Abstracts should be submitted to the conference email address: <IACL-26@letsci.wisc.edu>.

  ·Please title the subject of the e-mail with either “ABSTRACT-IACL26” or “ABSTRACT- ICCLC20”.

  ·In the email, please include name(s) of the author(s), academic rank(s), affiliation(s), abstract title, subcategory (e.g. syntax, phonology, Sino-Tibetan linguistics, etc.), and the e-mail address for contact.

  ·Please name the abstract file attached in the following way:

  For single-authored papers: LastName_FirstName.pdf

  For co-authored papers: LastName_FirstName_co.pdf (list only the first author)

  (For example, Hu Jianhua would name his abstract file “Hu_Jianhua.pdf”, or

  “Hu_Jianhua_co.pdf” for a co-authored paper)

  Submission Deadline: January 10, 2018

  Notification of Acceptance: February 26, 2018

  Notes: Non-IACL members must join IACL by March 26, 2018 to be eligible for presentation at this joint conference.

  IACL competitions: YSA, MJH, IRA

  The Young Scholar Award (YSA)

  The YSA competition is an innovative attempt by the IACL to promote, recognize, and encourage young scholars. It is held once a year in conjunction with the IACL annual conference.

  A maximum of 5 finalists will be selected, and each will be awarded a travel subsidy (of around $500) and invited to the IACL conference to give an oral presentation at a special session, organized for this purpose, before a panel of judges chaired by the IACL president (the review committee of any given year may also recommend that no finalist be invited). The author of the best paper selected by the panel will be honored at the banquet of the annual conference and presented with an award certificate.

  Eligibility

  1.Participants must be 35 years of age or younger by the date of the final round of the competition;

  2.Participants’ current academic rank must be below that of associate professor in the Chinese and American university systems, and below that of senior lecturer in the British system.

  3.Previous award winners are not eligible to re-enter the competition.

  IACL membership: Non-members must join the IACL within 30 days of acceptance notification, otherwise, your qualification for the final round of competition will be revoked.

  Submission Guidelines

  1.Each participant is required to submit a full paper no more than 25 pages in length.

  2.All submissions for the YSA competition must be original papers that have not been published or accepted for publication, nor presented at a major conference or included in its proceedings.

  3.A paper submitted to a previous IACL conference cannot be resubmitted.

  4.Please submit the abstract and the full paper directly to the conference email address (<IACL-26@letsci.wisc.edu>), and title the subject of the submission email “YSA”.

  In the email, please include: paper title, subcategory (e.g. syntax, phonology, Sino-Tibetan linguistics, etc.), author’s name, author’s age as of May 4th 2018, affiliation, academic rank, and the email address for contact.

  Submission Deadline

  The abstract and the full paper should be submitted no later than January 10, 2018. The results of acceptance will be announced around February 26, 2018. Those who are selected as finalists for IACL competitions must submit proof of their age and academic rank to be included in the program.

  Mantaro J. Hashimoto (MJH) Award for Chinese Historical Phonology

  This new award offers an annual prize in the amount of US $500, donated by Professor Anne Yue in memory of the eminent linguist and sinologist, Professor Mantaro J. Hashimoto. It is offered as an encouragement to young scholars who wish to devote themselves to the study of Chinese historical phonology, a field in which Professor Hashimoto was especially interested and to which he made numerous important contributions.

  The prize will be administered as part of the Young Scholar Award process. All YSA papers submitted in the field of Chinese historical phonology will automatically be concurrently considered for the MJH Award.

  Submission Guidelines

  Title the subject of the submission email “YSA/MJH”. Applicants should follow the published YSA guidelines and the above deadline in preparing their submissions. All regulations, restrictions, selection criteria, and current judging standards in the YSA process will apply to papers considered for the MJH Award, with the exception that the papers submitted for the MJH Award must deal specifically with the area of Chinese historical phonology.

  The Interdisciplinary Research Award (IRA)

  This award is an annual prize in the amount of US $500, established in the honor of Professor Hsin-I Hsieh for his immense contributions to the IACL and to the field of Chinese linguistics. The award is offered as a token of encouragement to young scholars who wish to devote themselves to interdisciplinary studies in Chinese linguistics. The prize will be administered as part of the Young Scholar Award (YSA) process. All papers with an interdisciplinary approach submitted for YSA will automatically be concurrently considered for the Interdisciplinary Research Award.

  Submission Guidelines

  Title the subject of the submission email “YSA/IRA”. Applicants should follow the published YSA guidelines and the above deadline in preparing their submissions. All regulations, restrictions, and selection criteria adopted in the YSA process will apply to papers considered for the Interdisciplinary Research Award, with the exception that these submissions must have an interdisciplinary focus, which includes interface studies (e.g., phonology-syntax, morpho-syntax, syntax-semantics.), studies which combine diachronic and synchronic approaches, studies that combine methodologies from different frameworks (e.g., formal, functional, typological), or studies that combine linguistics and other disciplines (e.g., literature, anthropology, sociology, psychology, computer science).
