Since 1952, Zhongguo Yuwen has been an academic journal published bimonthly by The Institute of Linguistics of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Following Marxism-Leninism, the journal comprises research content from various sub-fields of linguistics which include Chinese historical linguistics, cross-linguistic studies, comparative studies on Chinese dialects, applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, language acquisition, Chinese language information processing, language policy and more.
Over the past decades, many significant results published on Zhongguo Yuwen have triggered thought-provoking debates with profound impact, which makes the journal one of the most influential academic journals on Chinese linguistics.
